There *MUST* be a more civilised way to navigate the UK Public Transport systems. It seems to drive everybody to only consider themselves, promoting selfishness and I fear, the potential to cause injury along the way.
For example, its typical to see a mass of commuters watching the departure screen at London's Kings Cross - preparing themselves on virtual starter blocks, as if they were sprinters, ready for the gun. Just waiting for that platform number to be announced before making that inevitable dash (some hiding it with a very quick walk, others just going for it) and throwing caution (or themselves) to anybody who gets in your way.
I'm sure I have people throwing themselves in front of me, as if taking a bullet, but instead a desperate attempt to prevent me from reaching my goal - a seat on that long journey back to the north east of england.
Oh well, another social trait I'll simply have to get used to.
